Nobile 50Fifty 10m Review

At A Glance

The 50Fifty is a totally new kite from Nobile, designed with help from the pro rider Mike “the knife” Blomvall. This kite is a strong nod towards the recent resurgence of the C style kite. It is an unashamed freestyle machine designed for the rider who is looking for the ultimate in performance. It utilizes 4-line set up, with a bridle attached to the kite. The bridle helps to support the leading edge, which is very thin to give the kite a more aerodynamic profile. As usual the build quality is up there with the best of them and there is a new webbing strap feature near each of the struts to prevent the bridle catching. This should ensure no matter how much you crash it that it will always be ready to come up for more.

The Bar

The Nobile KISS bar has always been a staff favorite, comfy to hold and well thought out it utilizes some clever ideas that are both functional and easy to use. The chicken loop release is simple and releases easily under load, there is an above the bar trim system that uses a webbing pull set up and the lines can be attached to the outer, or inner attachment points on the bar to increase its effective size should you desire.

On the Water

The 50Fifty is a purposeful kite that flies around the window with some pace. The thin leading edge when allowed to penetrate the air generates a lot of power when it does so. The wind range isn’t as big as you would expect from a flatter arc kite, but the speed of the kite means that with good flying skills you can get a decent low end range from the kite. The top end is excellent and the kite seems to have a limitless upper range to it. It flies fairly far forward in the wind window, which allows it to tug you upwind with ease, great for staying in the same spot when you are busting out the freestyle moves! The pull from the kite when you unhook is very consistent and it behaves well when you load up the edge, not drifting too much. This means the rider can forget about the kite and concentrate on getting as much pop as possible. Relaunch is OK, if you know how to relaunch a C Kite then you will be fine, but this isn’t a kite for beginners so that shouldn’t prove an issue for anyone buying the 50Fifty. Jumping the kite is aggressive, pulling the rider up off the water with some pace; kiteloops generate a medium power band, which means you can definitely get radical when you want to.

For

Great looks, well built, freestyle machine that has an impressive wind range and near limitless top end.

Against

Not for beginners, but then that should be obvious, relaunching is not automatic, you need to put a bit of effort in, just like the good old days!

Overall

If you want a freestyle machine for your riding then the 50Fifty fits the bill really well, coupled with the excellent bar we think it is a definite contender.

Nobile T5 Koinobori 12m Review

koinoboriNobile released a new kite 2011, the T5 Koinobori. Here is a short review written by a guy from Singapore who had a session with a 12m Koinobori kite.

When it comes to construction the Koinobori is very light and the material is strong and the whole kite feels solid.
The Koinobori is a Delta kite with only 3 struts and the centre strut is shorter than most other 2011 Delta kites.

Design: The graphics on the Koinobori is very cool in my opinion, I guess the picture below pretty much speaks for itself =)

In the air: The Koinobori turns fast yet extremely stable in the air. It tends to park in a position just below the edge of the wind window where it gives lots of power. The low weight gives the Koinobori a great low end and it absorbes wind like a hungry monster. You can hardly stall the kite even when it´s fully depowered.

The bar is pretty much like any other bar with two differences. The donkey dick can be set aside which is great when you ride unhooked and want to hook back in easily.

Nobile states that the leading edge is redesigned, the wing tips are flattened out, the bridles are thinner as well as the back lines. These improvements make the Koinobori much faster and more stable than its predecessor, the T5. Still the best improvement is the lift and hang time which has greatly increased.

N62 V2.0

n62N62 was a big success for Nobile and the new version N62 V2.0 is of course even better with its improved turning speed and more constant power. Added reinforcements makes the kite even more resilient against impacts in the water and abrasion from laying upon sand.

The new N62 is holding the latest innovations within the kite industry. The compact shape and low aspect ratio provides stability as well as easy power management, direct turningsand super easy water relaunch.

N62 is a great kite for those who appreciate an easy kite, no extra lines or complicated features, still a great kite for those who ride in tough wind conditions where power control is crucial.

N62 V2.0 has a shorter scope through the wing tips, which gives a great low end capacity, good wind range and the possibility to turn the kite around a pivot without the indirecthandling that you have from traditional delta kites.

The N62 has the so called “park and ride” feature meaning that you simply dive the kite, park it and concentrate on your riding and not steering the kite. The kite has the ability to sink back in the wind window instead of luffing and fall down from the sky that can happen if you fail when performing a jump or if you’re yet not comfortable with riding the kite.

Water relaunch is a piece of cake. In cases where you drop the kite in the water a minimum of technique and bar handling is required.

3 struts combined with a simple bridle system and the new SMART pump II system makes it easy to rigg the kite. There is only one universal attachment point for the front and rear lines which means that the rider doesn’t have to figure out which line goes where.

N62 V2.0 together with the new KISS bar is a set up which will provide the rider with top safety, quality and high performance. The bar is equipped with the new Fulcrum quick release system which allows the rider to push his limits and still be in safe hands.

The new N62 V2.0 is an allround kite with versatility no matter if you’re a beginner or an advanced rider.

Are Nobile really making the best kites?

I could simply write that Nobile kites are the best, but I presume you as a (kite)surfer deserve a better explanation.
Most of modern kites feature ease water start and one pump system, but it’s our that were voted “best relaunch” in may independent test. I do not want to copy and paste our description of the kites, cause I’m sure you already checked it in the Internet, ex. at our website. Below you will find some links to independent kite reviews, so you may check by yourself what other think about our kites.
To design our kites we work closely with world’s best aerodynamics engineers – those guy design wings for the world’s most advanced planes, so you may be sure they now everything about how things shall perform in the air.
All our kites features the world’s most well-rounded aerodynamic shape that makes it lighter, faster, more reactive and lighter. reinforced bridle attachment points, catch-free valves location and double Dacron reinforced are also the features you should pay attention to.
Also the amazing wind range (our kites fly when others already don’t) and massive low-end power are the advantages you can’t undervalue.
What is more, we just introduced world’s most advanced kite bar – KISS. You may check out how does this innovative system works here:
If you’re looking for a freestyle kite, I would highly recommended you to try our T5-Koinobori range.
The best would be if you could come to one of our test events and try for yourself how good this kites are.
